Things To Be Thankful For

I pulled this post from my other blog, to share on here. This was my list of things to be thankful for at Thanksgiving.

Because of Thanksgiving and my purpose in teaching five kids how important it is to be thankful for what we have, I have been thinking about it a bit myself.

Here’s what I am thankful for:

  • first and foremost, God, my church and my very supportive church family, which extends into…
  • my very supportive boyfriend who loves me and shows me that everyday.
  • my two amazing biological children that I love more than life itself.
  • my three additonal children that I couldn’t love anymore than I love my own.
  • my amazing blended family and everything we do together and the love we have for each other.
  • my mom, brother, aunt and uncle, I’m lucky I have them both and how accepting they have been to my blended family.
  • my cats that keep me company all day everyday (Maple & Sassafrass), now updated to include my new puppy (Molly).
  • my writing career that has been a lifelong dream come true for me
  • my home, my life and everything else in it!
  • my health as well as my families health.
  • my awesome friends, even the ones who don’t live close or that I don’t see too often.
  • my neighbors who have become part of my friendship circle!
  • Take a few minutes to reflect today and express your thanks and gratitude to the people you love.

T burn fat attack combo

I was checking out my stats this morning and looked to see what search queries people were using to find my site, and as usual, found it rather interesting.

I was surprised to see that “t burn fat attack combo” warrants me quite a few hits a day, since I believe that there was only one post I ever used that phrase in and it was a LONG time ago.

So, since so many people search for that apparently, and are visiting my blog looking for information about it, I figured I’d share my experience with you all.

I first began taking the T burn fat attack combo, which is most commonly purchased at Attilio’s Discount in the St. Louis area and to my knowledge cannot be purchased on the net, because I felt like I needed to lose a little weight. My room-mate at the time, had started taking it and only took a few before giving up. So I took over the rest.

The first thing I will tell you, is that for the first week or two that you take the t burn fat attack combo, you will feel jittery, and a little shaky – this is the ephedrine and the caffeine. After your body has adjusted, you will feel energized, revived, no cravings for certain foods, your mind will feel clearer. You will get more done. For some, the adjustment period is about 3 days, some a week, and some about two weeks. Some cannot handle it at all, but it seems that case is rare.

I think during the three or four months I took the t burn fat attack combo (and the only reason I stopped is because I ran out of pills LOL), I felt more “alive” than I ever had. I felt great. I had all this energy and I got so much done. I slept better, I worked better, my mind thought better. And I was losing weight too! I’m ADHD so the caffeine has the reverse affect on me, and it was like “medicating” only safer.

I wound up losing a total of 35lbs in less than two months. I continued to take the t burn fat attack combo for a couple of months after that, just to keep the fat burning. I didn’t want to put it all back on. I was training myself to eat healthier so when I did stop taking it, I would have a plan to keep the weight off.

It’s now about two years later, and I have probably put on 10lbs of that lost weight, HOWEVER that is because I don’t watch what I eat very well anymore. Laziness? Not really, just I love desserts and pasta. The fatty stuff – ya know?

So I am thinking about getting the T Burn Fat attack combo again, and losing the weight all over again. The only downfall I could find with the whole system is that it is a bit pricey, at over $100 for the set. But it’s easy to take. You take the diet pills in the morning (or i did) and you take the fat burners 30 minutes before each meal, and you take a certain number depending on what you are planning on eating for lunch. For instance, if you are headed to McD’s for lunch you might wish to take three of them. Whereas if you are eating a deli sandwich you brought from home, the fat content is probably less and you might wish to only take one or two.

I do recommend drinking a ton of water while taking the t burn fat attack combo. I was thirsty a lot, but it was great because I was drinking lots of water, and I continued that practice even when I was done with the combo.

So that is my experience with the T-Burn Fat Attack Combo. If you have any questions, post them in the comments and I will gladly respond. This was only my personal experience and from what I have heard, results definitely vary.

Molly and Maple

Alright, after getting some advice from an “expert” – my mom. (she used to run the St. Louis Newfoundland Rescue Group many eons ago). We decided to get Molly a “playpen” for when were are gone. That way she doesn’t eliminate in her crate because we didn’t get home in time, and that way we don’t have a horrible time housebreaking.

So we set the little square up and put her little puppy pad in there and a few toys and let her get used to it from the outside. She did great.

Maple, Our Manx Cat and Molly, Our Border Collie PuppyWe thought we should put her in there a little bit at a time so she would get used to it and not hate it. So we popped her inside, and of course, the old saying “Curiousity Killed The Cat” kicked in. Maple decided she needed to check the new play area out herself. So once Molly went in, so did Maple on her own. This is what we found.

And of course, moments later they were playing as they do in the kitchen often. So it was kind of neat to see. Maple is a Manx cat and seems to have a very maternal nature about her. You can see it in how she interacts with the other animals in the house. Maple, Our Manx Cat, and Molly, Our Border Collie PuppySo it is only fitting that she is Molly’s new best friend.

Cardinals – Not the sports kind!

I have been watching him everyday for at least the past couple of weeks. He’s so beautiful. He brought along a few females and another male. They dominate our bird feeder, and the only birds they are totally willing to share with, are the finches. They are so much fun to photograph!

Meet Molly

Well, the time has come to introduce the new addition to our home. Since Reba didn’t work out, because we love our cats dearly and do not want them eaten, we decided to go with a puppy because then at least they “grow up” together. It was actually per a lot of advice.

Molly, our Border CollieThis is Molly. She is a Border Collie and she is between two to three months old. She’s adorable as all puppies are. We weren’t going to do a puppy because we know how time consuming they are, but so was Reba so it cannot be all bad. And her story was too sad not to at least try with her. The story behind Molly, is that her mother and her three sisters were brought in by an older man who was “moving”. The mother Border Collie had her puppies in the shed, and he left them alone. They had no socialization before they came to the adoption center. Of the four, one was terrified and wouldn’t come anywhere near anyone. If she could have melded into the cement wall, she would have. One came right up, though cautious. The dominant one of course. Then there were two in the middle. One was black and brown and when we held her, she wouldn’t avert her gaze ANYWHERE. She just was stiff and wouldn’t move. She was absolutely terrified. I felt so horrible for these puppies. Then there was Molly. The sweet little black and white girl who wanted desperately to come and see what the fuss was all about, but was much to terrifed to try. When they brought her to us, she was much like the first one, terrified and didn’t move. But her eyes kept looking all over. You could tell she was curious about everything, but was a  bit too scared. We chose her. No particular reason. Just something when I held her. Molly is a different puppy from yesterday. After about four hours here, she started to play cautiously, was totally interested in our cats and thought they were her playmates, and all in all started acting like a real puppy. She is adorable, affectionate, smart and even tempered. I’m already falling in love. :)

Good News/Bad News – re: “The Mutt” (Reba)

*sigh*

Does it ever get “normal”? There’s always something!

Well, the bad news is, that no matter how much I was willing to work with Reba, and no matter how much we liked her, there is some behavior I am just not willing to work with, when I have five kids.

Sad, but true, we had to take her back. She tried to eat our cat. I was half kidding when I mentioned it before. But she really DID try to eat our cat. Mocha was in her mouth completely, and I swear by the grace of God she suffered no damage except she is a bit more “careful” now. The shelter was great about it, and completely understood, they admitted that they had not realized that she was agressive at all. They weren’t happy to hear that she almost ate our cat, they are happy that Mocha is ok and that now we know she has to be placed with a family with no small pets.

It sucks too. I went into the whole dog adoption thing with the mind set that getting an older dog was humane. The sweet puppies go home easily but the larger dogs just sit and wait for a home for months. Reba had been there since September. That’s half her life!

However, I guess the good news is, is that we do have a new puppy (that is Reba pictured above, not the new puppy). One of those bittersweet moments. I will post about her tomorrow.

A Nice Facelift

I am testing some new themes for the blog, to see what is more attractive, so if something doesn’t load, or something doesn’t seem right, just be patient. It’s going to be fixed soon!

I’ll update later!

Update: I changed the whole template and got rid of the “pink” and the “cutesy” look. What do you think now?

What Was I Thinking?

I don’t know what I was thinking, or rather what we were thinking. We already have 5 children, 3 cats (one of which is just a foster kitty and will be hopefully finding a new home soon), 2 guinea pigs and now we have gone and adopted a dog that is bigger than my youngest two children!

Reba is actually a really good puppy, for being a second hand dog. She has small obedience problems, and will need a little bit of training, but she is relatively good. She is a total people person! She loves people. However, she really loves cats too, and keeps trying to eat our cats. Well, at first we didn’t think she was trying to eat them, we thought she was just trying to play. Not really.

I took her to the vet today and my $50 adopted dog turned into something a bit more expensive. Her 6 months in the Humane Society gave her kennel cough (which we had already been treating and is almost gone), a nice ear infection in her right ear, and some kind of weird parasite that isn’t contageous but that she has to take meds for.

It’s been loads of fun.

But really Reba is a great dog (I think I am just trying to convince myself here). My daughter, Brielle, checked out every Rottweiler book she could find and two libraries. She has been reading them, mostly looking at the cute dog and puppy pictures. But she is determined to bond with the dog the way she bonded with our dog Bandit who had to be put to sleep last year because he had a brain tumor. :(

All the kids are really eager to have the weather really warm up so we can go on walks with her. At the vets suggestion, she needs to lose about 8-10lbs. I figure I could definitely afford to lose that weight too, so hey – we’ll work it off together! Plus, I am unsure how easily the kids will be able to “walk” her as she is pretty strong and has a very high prey drive. However, she listens ok.

I will say that she is a bit time consuming. She is pooping outside only (with the exception of twice in her crate), thank goodness. But has had three accidents in the house, though I figure if it’s only 3 times to the countless times she’s gone outside, something is going right, she is doing better. She likes to chew as all Rottie’s do, but we are really having trouble finding the right toy for her, and personally the cats are not it. My vet suggested a Kong and we had one with Bandit and he loved it, so I guess this weekend we are going to purchase one. Boy dogs are expensive LOL I had forgotten that.

She was kind of funny this morning, she had a lot of issues when the big yellow monster swallowed the kids up, and took them away. But she was happy and her tail was wagging a mile a minute when it spit them back out this afternoon. She’s finally getting used to it!

YAY!

My Favorite Supplies

Everyone has them! Come on, admit it. There are a probably a select few supplies or tools that you absolutely have in order to scrapbook. The favorites. The ones that if you run out of, or cannot find, scrapbooking is put on hold.

I have a few.

FALCON CUTTER:
I have to have my falcon cutter. It has to probably be my most favorite tool. I purchased one in 1995 and have been using the thing ever since. I love it. If you don’t have one, you should really consider it. They are great and they use standard razor blades as refills :) YAY!

ADHESIVE:
This is one of those givens. Of course you have to have adhesive to scrapbook, but it is one of my favorite supplies, because without it, I could not scrapbook at all. And I figured that out the hard way one day when I hadn’t realized that I had not purchased any in awhile and I was out. So definitely one of my favorite supplies.

PATTERNED PAPER:
I am a patterned paper addict. Every single time I have ever purchased any scrapbook supplies, I have always picked up some new paper for my layouts. I love the different color combinations, patterns and matching embellishments. If a set of pattern paper has loads of coordinating embellishments, I’m totally there with it. I don’t like real busy patterned paper though. My paper stash has grown to an unbelievable proportion! LOL

EMBELLISHMENTS:
Another one of those must have supplies. I don’t much like a plain scrapbook layout. I want decoration, added embellishments and the like. I love to experiment with multiple types of embellishments on one layout. Ribbon and Metals are probably my favorite. While there are still more, these are my favorites. I’ll post more later!

Read 100

Recently I came across an interesting concept that I feel like I should pass along to other writer’s. It’s known as Book 100. After you have selected the type of book that you want to write, (how-to, romance novel, children’s book, young adult, sci-fi) read 100 books in that selected genre.

I learned about this in Chapter After Chapter by Heather Sellers, which I wrote an earlier post about. I’m not going to tell you all about what Heather suggests, and why, because you really should read the book – it’s terrific. But I will clarify why I think it’s important to follow her suggestion.

Reading 100 books on your specific or chosen genre falls under the category of research. It allows you to get a glimpse into what sells, what other writer’s are writing about, and simply to get a grasp on what your chosen area contains. Obviously, if you are writing a children’s book, reading 100 children’s books will be easy and fun. It might not be as fun to read 100 how-to books or non-fiction or biographies. It is difficult to do this. But if you are an avid reader, you have probably already read dozens of books in your chosen area. And if you are not an avid reader, than why are you trying to be a writer?

Food for thought……
