About Me

Hi there. So you want to know more about me.

Well, here’s my blurb from my main blog.

Mom. Step-Mom. Wife. Christian. Blended Family. 36. SAHM. WAHM. Writer. Scrapbooker. Bookworm. Creative. Playful at heart. Midwest girl. Loves scrapbooking, photography, coffee, sushi, chocolate, words, animals, and walks in nature. Hates spiders, cleaning and messes. Ironic eh?

And here’s more about me:

I’m Nicole and I have been scrapbooking since my son was a baby, so over sixteen years now. I got started at a Creative Memories party, moved to Arizona two years later and discovered REAL scrapbooking (sorry CM rep’s – no disrespect, I just like all the contraband). I spent a great deal of time in a store there taking classes and buying stuff. While we lived in Arizona, I had a daughter. Oddly her albums are much thicker than my sons. (Which apparently is strange, since second and third kids don’t get a lot of pictures taken according to history).

I moved to Texas about two years later and started teaching classes at a store there that is now sadly gone. (although there isn’t much to be sad about since one lady went on and now has a huge scrapbooking company and she designs products, etc. – in my opinion, that’s happy making). I taught for about two years and then was given the opportunity to teach as the GASC (Great American Scrapbook Convention) in 1999. It was my first convention I ever attended, and obviously my first one teaching at and WOW!

In 2000, I moved to Missouri (my childhood home) and have been actively scrapbooking and teaching and spreading the word ever since.

Besides scrapbooking, I am freelance writer and novelist. Currently I am writing for several websites. I am a 2 Peas addict, and spend as much time over there as I can, which unfortunately isn’t much these days with my full-time and part-time freelance gigs. I am also in the process of writing a non-fiction book, as well as a fiction novel, which I am hoping will turn into a series.

I’m a mom, first and foremost and I probably should have talked about that first. I have two beautiful kids which I mentioned, a son and a daughter. Four and a half years ago I met the man I think I’ve always dreamed about, and moved in with him several months later. Now I am the mother of five. He has three daughter’s who we have full custody of. My newest topic of interest is Blended Families, for obvious reasons. All five of my children are avid scrapbookers, including my son. Wouldn’t it be cool if they had more products geared to step and blended families?

Update 07/2010: We got married in May 2010, so now I am the wife to my best friend, and the mom of five – officially.
Somewhere there are picture on my blog.

My passions are everything I’ve mentioned above, and my scrapbooks reflect them all. My favorite things to photograph are my family, my pets (four dogs, 1 cat, 3 mice and 1 turtle hatchling) and of course, our everyday lives. I am also into photographing ‘pieces of our lives’ (like inanimate objects that define who we are). Currently I am working on an album for my 12 year old daughter which will consist of her first six months of horseback riding and her journey to showing in the arena’s. I am also working on mini-albums for each child of our first year together and what they each individually mean to me. Constant ongoing projects are our family yearly album, and a school album for each child.

As much as I love to scrapbook, I have to really make time for it. This is mostly because my writing career and parenting five children and bussing them to every activity under the sun, is time consuming and I am left with very little time at the end of the day. And with that, I’d rather pea. (And if you don’t know what that means, it would take way too long to explain it OR you just haven’t discovered the best scrapbooking site evvvvuh!)

That’s me, in a nutshell.
