How To Make a Hidden Message Card
Hidden Message Card
You will need:
5.5 x 4 card Base
5.5 x 4 sheet of patterned paper
5 x 3.5 sheet of cardstock
4.75 x 3.25 sheet of cardstock
1 x 10″ sheet of cardstock
Embellishments (brad, ribbons,)
Step 1: Begin by taking your card base. I usually make my own but you can purchase pre-made card bases too, at almost any craft supply store. Adhere your 5.5 x 4 sheet of patterned paper to the card base.
Step 2: Next you need your 5 x 3.5. Decorate this however you’d like, for instance brayering, stamping, etc. Then adhere it to the patterned paper you just stuck on the card.
Step 3: Take your 1 x 10″ piece of cardstock and fold it in half. Take the 4.75 x 3.25 piece of cardstock and cut a slit in it that is approximately 1″.
Step 4: Thread the slider piece into the slot and push it all the way in so you can see how much will be visible. Remove slider strip and stamp message across the piece and then replace it.
Step 5: Adhere the 4.75 x 3.25 piece to the layered card at this point. Decorate as desired. Super easy!
Here is a diagram of what it will look like:

Using the Back of a Stamp
I need to do up some more samples, but I absolutely LOVE using the back of the MyAcrylix stamps as a shadow or background when doing other stamping.
I first inked up the backside of the stamp (yes I mean the part that sticks to the acrylic block) with Sweet Leaf. I stamped it on my cardstock. Afterwards I inked up the correct side of the stamp and stamped the image in Twilight. There was another stamp that went with this one, (the outline) so I inked it in Black and stamped it over. I love the way this looks and it was SO easy!

How To Get Faux Burnt Edging For Your Scrapbook Layouts and Embellishments
To get started you will need the piece that you plan to add the burnt edge to. I used a tag in my example, but you could use a mat or a other type of embellishment. The look will even work on photographs.
You also need a brown ink pad, a black ink pad and walnut ink.

To begin, protect your work surface and then begin stamping your brown ink pad along the edges of the tag (or other item) blending into the center of the tag.

Next, take your walnut ink and add to the edges of the piece only. Try to avoid getting anywhere but the edges.

Last step, grab that black ink pad and ink the entire piece only on the edges. You can apply the ink to the edge directly from the ink pad. Now, use a sponge and blend the inked edges into the center of the piece. This is what you get.

It is now complete and time for you to embellish it however you would like. I have had a sepia toned photograph of my daughter for awhile that I was unsure of what to do with. I decided to unevenly cut the photograph and attach it to the tag. I then placed a transparent overlay over the top and trimmed the edges.

To finish off the look, I added a Making Memories Washer that says “Treasure” and then I gave the ribbon a inked/stained look as well. This is my finished product.

Now it’s time for you to get creative and have some fun with the different things you can create with this look! Have fun!
