Happy Birthday Stephen!

Today is my brother Stephen’s birthday! He’s 29. No he really is. I cannot wait until next years, the big 3-0! I plan to go all out.

My brother just got engaged to a beautiful woman named Jolina who’s family I adore. Her mother Julie is a teacher and is amazing with my kids. She’s a lot of fun, and I am so excited to be getting a sister-in-law. Until now I just had brother-in-laws from my step -sisters. And one brother-in-law from my biological sister whom I have never met. (long story – I’m adopted).

Anyway, my brother proposed to Jolina last Monday night (a week ago, not Christmas Eve) and she said yes! Yay! Last night was the first time I’ve seen her since then, so it was fun to say Congratulations, see her beautiful ring and talk about everything. My brother was sweet. They watched a movie awhile back where this guy proposed and had decorated his place with all these Origami cranes. So he came over one night and for five hours made Origami cranes with my kids (my oldest step-daughter is amazing with Origami) and he hung them all over his apartment. He took her out to eat and then brought her back and proposed. Julie, her mother told us last night that Jolina didn’t come right out and tell her she was engaged. Instead, when they were leaving their home, she kept asking her mom if she had forgotten anything and kept flashing her hand in her face, holding her arm up and doing everything but shoving it in her face for her mom to notice. It was a funny story, and I am so proud to call them family. I have no idea when the wedding will be, since my brother basically spent every cent he had on that amazing ring. LOL But I am happy all the same.

Happy Birthday little bro! I love you so much and am so proud of who you are, even when you are a bit nutty!
