Update on Kids

Well, the three little rugrats arrived home earlier today. Actually I had to make the long trek up there to get them. I’m so happy they are home. Apparently, and this part just sucks – they seriously did not enjoy it and don’t want to ever go back. Hmmm….

First, I should mention it was a church camp, and it is NOT a denomination that we are. I knew already that could be a problem and I had spoken to the kids before that to get them ready for that possibility.

However, apparently – they all three asked to call home several times (they are allowed) and never once were actually able to. They always had an excuse.

The big kicker? They had three story high bunk beds for them to sleep in. Okay fine. BUT – there was only a rail on ONE side of each bunk bed and there was no ladder. My daughter fell out of the top bunk (three high) and landed on her back. Did anyone call me? No. Did she see the nurse on site? No. They picked her up (uhm….excuse me?) and cradled her, rocking her while she was crying. Then they put her to bed – RIGHT BACK UP ON THE TOP OF THAT THIRD BUNK BED! We stopped at the pediatrician on the way back today to get her checked out. He felt she was fine, and only had a brief muscle spasm while he was checking her out. Nothing to be alarmed about and that’s a good thing since she’s a horseback rider and that could have just been so much worse!

I’m so completely frustrated and disgusted, I’m almost happy they didn’t have a good time because I could not in good conscience send them back there ever again.
